Healthy indoor climate

Elumaja has convenient and healthy indoor climate that is very suitable, among others, for people with allergies. The quality of the indoor climate is determined by several factors that can be improve by a careful choice of materials, the building’s structure and ventilation with a heating element.

Comfortably warm room

The most important aspect of interior climate is heat comfort that is determined by:

  • operative temperature, index of heat comfort
  • indoor air temperature 18-22°C in winter and 22-27°C in summer
  • temperature gradient 1-2°C (vertical temperature difference of indoor air in a building)
  • radiation temperature: 18-20°C (wall surface temperature)
  • relative air humidity: ~40-60%
  • maximum air movement speed: 0.2 m/sec

Walls are warm

Operative temperature during the winter is in the 18-20ºC range that shows good wall insulation, good heating technology indicators of windows and doors, lack of thermal  bridges and balanced division of indoor temperature in the whole room. Low operative temperature ensures low costs during the heating period.

Sufficiently humid air

Building’s air humidity is between 40-60%. The increase of relative humidity of premises to over the dangerous 70% limit is regulated with air ventilation. In achieving the quality of indoor air quality in Elumaja, the structure and choice of finishing materials plays an instrumental role.

Key criteria for choosing materials

1) We never use materials that pose health risks. All material are either certified or processed at minimum and natural, their composition ahs been checked and declared safe for health. All structural and finishing materials are as environmentally friendly as possible and their composition is verified. Interior finishing materials include wood, clay plaster, natural oils, lime and casein paints

2) We avoid using materials that are based on oil products or whose production process is energy-intensive (CO2 emission in the production of material) such as plastics, mastics, silicon, laminated materials, fibreboards glued with formaldehyde resins, etc

3) We avoid materials that cannot be re-cycled or safely disposed
